Proof Research Elevation FDX — Lightweight Precision for the Backcountry
The Elevation FDX is Proof’s answer to a question most lightweight rifles get wrong: can you carry less without giving up anything at distance?
Proof didn’t invent carbon fiber barrels for hunting — they built them for Apache helicopter cannon under military contract, pushing chamber pressures past eighty thousand PSI. That work became PXT rifling: progressive twist that cuts engraving force by about thirty percent, spreads throat erosion across more of the bore, and in testing delivered thirty to a hundred percent longer barrel life before accuracy starts to fade. The FDX is the first complete rifle platform to ship with PXT aboard. Six calibers from twenty-two Creedmoor up to three hundred PRC, barrel lengths sixteen and a half to twenty inches, weights 5 pounds 14 oz to 6 pounds 2 oz. TriggerTech Diamond Pro trigger, Falkor LW7 action, Hawkins M5 Hunter bottom metal, three-round detachable mag. The Salmon River combo rail takes ARCA or Picatinny so your bipod or tripod mounts either way, and there’s a twenty MOA pinned base out of the box. Muzzle’s threaded 5/8 - 24 with a protector, length of pull 13 5/8"
Proof guarantees sub-MOA. Outdoor Life named the Elevation MTR FDX its Best Hunting Rifle of 2026. In its 6.5 Creedmoor testing, the rifle averaged .58-inch five-shot groups with Federal 140-grain CTR ammunition and recorded a .84-inch 20-shot group with that load.
Pricing starts at thirty-four ninety-nine for the Creedmoors, thirty-seven ninety-nine for the PRCs.
